About J. F. Alexander
Jim F. Alexander is a theophilic scribbler: an author of little note who writes about theology, society, and the future of religion. His futuristic spiritual adventure novel, I Am Sophia, was released by Wipf & Stock Publishers and is now available in paperback, hardcover, and ebook formats from booksellers around the world.
Jim earned a bachelor's degree in the liberal arts at Austin College, a master's degree in global affairs at Tufts University's Fletcher School, and a juris doctorate at Stanford University. He also was a Fulbright fellow at the Ludwig-Maximilians University of Munich and a Newbigin fellow at an ecumenical study center affiliated with the Graduate Theological Union. Jim was appointed Writer-in-Residence (in 2018) and Theologian-in-Residence (in 2022) at Trinity Episcopal Cathedral in San Jose, California, where he is also an occasional lay preacher. His spiritual and theological "roots" are embedded in historic Anglican catholic Christianity, while his "wings" touch modern scientific cosmology, theologies of the feminine divine, and insights from Eastern traditions.
He is also a licensed attorney who has clerked in a federal court and practiced law at a multinational law firm and a major financial technology company. Early in his career, he worked at NASA as an international negotiator facilitating the construction and operation of the International Space Station. He currently is a volunteer advisor to LunARC, a not-for-profit initiative to land a permanent repository of art from around the world on the lunar surface in 2024.
Jim lives in Silicon Valley with his wife, teenage son, and Australian Shepherd. He is a grateful survivor of early-stage colon cancer. This spring, he is training for a long-distance bike ride to raise funds for leukemia and lymphoma research.

James Francis (Jim) Alexander is the author of I Am Sophia, a parable of Christianity's future. He leads the Theological Expeditions seminar at Trinity Episcopal Cathedral in downtown San Jose, California, where he is currently Theologian-in-Residence. An inveterate theophilic scribbler, he periodically posts musings on theology, religion, and society to his blog.
Jim is also a licensed attorney with expertise in corporate counseling and civil litigation. He serves as pro bono legal advisor to LunARC, a global not-for-profit initiative to land a permanent repository of art on the lunar surface in 2024.
